What is a litigation legal secretary?

Litigation legal secretaries are specialized administrative professionals who support lawyers and legal teams involved in lawsuits and court cases. Their duties include preparing legal documents, managing case files, scheduling court dates, communicating with clients, and ensuring all filings comply with court rules. They play a vital role in keeping legal proceedings organized and efficient, often working in law firms or corporate legal departments.

What does a litigation legal secretary do?

A litigation legal secretary formats and files documents to help a litigation attorney or paralegal prepare for court. These secretaries often work in large law firms or private practices. Job duties often include scheduling appointments, making new case files, and filing the documents necessary for the attorney to start the case. A litigation legal secretary must have experience with retention contracts and other legal documents and analytical skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a litigation legal secretary, and why are they important?
