Salary Range: $59,493-$81,690
Qualifications:
  1. An appropriate valid and current Pennsylvania Instructional II Certificate, preferred, but not required.
  2. Master's Degree with 5 years successful urban teaching experience preferred, but not required.
  3. Experience with teaching literacy in kindergarten, grade 1 and/or grade 2
  4. Evidence of proven ability to increase student outcomes in early literacy
  5. Experience with providing high quality literacy instruction to individual students and small groups
  6. Ability to analyze data to provide instruction to students to bring their skills to grade level
  7. Knowledge and experienced use of educational technologies used to support and advance student progress in literacy
  8. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  9. Satisfactory work record and criminal/child abuse clearances (Act 34, 114, and 151).

Summary
The Early Literacy Intervention Specialist is responsible for Tier II and Tier III literacy instruction to increase student achievement. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provides high quality literacy instruction to individual students and small groups
  2. Provides high quality phonological awareness and phonics instruction
  3. Assesses, designs, and implements interventions targeting specific student needs in the areas of early literacy
  4. Implements the evidence-based strategies found in the School Improvement Plan
  5. Administers, analyzes, records, and provides feedback on individual student assessments and bi-weekly monitoring
  6. Utilizes a rich array of instructional approaches, resources, and technologies to strengthen literacy instruction.
  7. Collaborates with Special Education facilitators and teachers.
  8. Collaborates with EL facilitators and teachers.
  9. Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  10. Assists in creating schedules and rosters for paraprofessionals and intervention periods

  1. Performs other tasks as related to the specific priorities and goals of the district.
