Library Clerk

Job Description

This position works under the direct supervision of the Library Director to perform a variety of routine clerical and manual tasks circulating and processing library materials and providing services to library patrons. Grade 5

Examples of Duties

Performs a variety of routine clerical, secretarial and administrative duties. This position is primarily located at Globe Public Library. They will work with City staff and volunteers to assist in the operations, services, and programs of the library.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED certificate • One (1) year of experience working with the public, receptionist duties, answering phones, and cashiering. Experience working in a library a plus. • At least 18 years of age • Ability to use PC computer, typewriter, calculator, telephone, cash register, copy and fax machines • Ability to file according to standard library practices (a test may be given.) • Some knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs. • Some knowledge of library circulation or processing techniques. • Working knowledge of library classification systems. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons, employees, supervisors, City staff, and the general public. • Must pass drug test, physical examination and background check • Ability to speak Spanish preferred • Valid AZ state driver's license or ability to obtain one
