Job description

The Librarian position at Ransom Everglades School is a full-time staff position reporting to the Director of Libraries. This position is based on the Middle School campus and supports the Middle and Upper School libraries.ย 

Essential Duties Responsibilities:ย 

  • Teach research and digital and information literacy skills to middle school students.ย 

  • Collaborate with library staff to develop and manage the middle school print and digital collections and resources.ย 

  • Initiateย libraryย programmingย andย outreach that aligns with school values.ย 

  • Performing typical library tasks including, but not limited to, cataloging and processing of materials, inventorying, weeding, collection evaluation, and creation of topical displays.ย 

  • Liaise with facultyย to develop print and digital resources toย support theย curriculum.ย 

  • Maintainย and updateย currentย LibGuidesย and create new ones asย required.ย 

  • Manage and evaluate MS library subscriptions.ย 

  • Assistย users with research and reference questions.ย 

  • Prepare periodic libraryย communication to the community.ย 

  • Contribute to the maintenance of the library webpage and related digital platforms.ย 

  • Stay abreast of products and developments in digital resource management and provide related instruction to faculty and students.ย 

  • Cross-trainย inย libraryย duties on both campuses.ย 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.ย 

  • Masterโ€™s degreeย from an ALA-accreditedย library and information scienceย program.ย 

  • Proficiencyย in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.ย 

  • Proficiencyย in library management systems; Atrium andย LibGuidesย preferred.ย 

  • Proficiencyย with academic databases.ย 

  • Previousย library experience; school library experienceย (preferred).ย 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:ย 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.ย 

  • Strong organizational skills.ย 

  • Ability to travel between campuses.ย
