Duties and Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging programs for adults
- Help create eye-catching library displays
- Support the development and upkeep of the branch's collection
- Provide courteous, knowledgeable customer service to library patrons
- Assist with reference and readers' advisory using print and digital tools
- Promote library services through outreach to community organizations
- Help patrons navigate internet and electronic resources
- Operate library equipment, including computers, self-checks, copiers, and cash registers
- Address basic facility issues and collaborate with staff on solutions
To succeed in this role, you'll need strong communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should be comfortable assisting library patrons, handling multiple priorities, and adapting to changing daily needs. Initiative, reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn are essential.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Qualifications
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework
- Two (2) years of customer service or closely related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- One (1) year of experience in a library setting
- A valid Florida Driver's License
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Part-time, 40 hours biweekly. Schedule varies and includes evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays.
Location Flexibility: Employees may be temporarily or permanently assigned to other library locations within the system based on operational needs.
