What is a less physically demanding job?

A less physically demanding job is one that requires minimal strenuous physical activity, such as heavy lifting, prolonged standing, or repetitive motions. These jobs often involve sitting, light movement, or tasks that rely more on cognitive or technical skills rather than physical endurance. Examples include administrative work, customer service, remote jobs, and certain tech or creative roles. Many of these positions prioritize mental effort, organization, or communication over physical exertion.

What types of tasks are typically involved in a less physically demanding position?

Less physically demanding roles primarily focus on clerical, administrative, and computer-based tasks such as data entry, scheduling appointments, answering emails, or providing customer service over the phone or online. Employees may also be responsible for preparing reports, managing databases, or supporting team projects. While these roles are generally performed in an office or remote setting, they require consistency, attention to detail, and effective time management. You’ll often collaborate with colleagues or clients, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential. These positions are great for individuals seeking steady work without frequent manual labor or physical strain.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a less physically demanding position, and why are they important?

Less physically demanding jobs generally require strong communication skills, computer literacy, and attention to detail, often backed by a high school diploma or postsecondary certification. Familiarity with office productivity software, teleconferencing tools, or customer relationship management (CRM) systems may be necessary, depending on the specific occupation. Organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset help individuals excel in these roles. These competencies are important for achieving operational accuracy, maintaining productivity, and effectively supporting team goals in less physically intensive environments.

Job description

Title
Senior Copier Setup Technician
EOE Statement
We are an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
Description
Are you an experienced copier or printer technician looking for the next chapter of your career?
If you've spent years in the field, you already understand the demands of the job. The driving, customer schedules, equipment moves, and general wear and tear on your body can add up over time. If you're not quite ready to step away from the industry, but are looking for an opportunity to put your experience to work in a less physically demanding environment, we'd like to talk.
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Copier Setup Technician to join our Operations team. This role allows you to leverage the technical knowledge and industry experience you've built throughout your career while working in a clean, climate-controlled shop focused on equipment setup, testing, quality control, and operational readiness.
This position is responsible for assembling, configuring, updating, testing, inspecting, and preparing new and pre-owned copier and printer equipment prior to delivery. Your experience and attention to detail will help ensure every machine leaving our facility meets our standards.
While this role may be less physically demanding than traditional field service, the expectations remain high. We value experience, but we place equal value on adaptability. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craft, embraces continuous learning, and understands that every organization has its own systems, processes, and quality standards. Success in this role requires both technical expertise and a willingness to learn new ways of working.
This is an opportunity to continue doing meaningful work in the industry you know, contribute at a high level, and leverage your knowledge without the daily physical demands of field service.
The position is full-time, Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm. Compensation starts at $20 per hour and is commensurate with experience. Experienced copier technicians are encouraged to discuss compensation based on their background and industry knowledge.
We provide On-The-Job training as needed, along with clearly defined expectations and the support of a knowledgeable team. Uniform shirts are provided, however work pants, not jeans, are required, but not provided.
We offer an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company with advancement opportunities and a great team environment. We offer optional casual overtime as well as a competitive hourly rate in addition to a full benefits plan, which includes medical, dental, vision, three weeks of paid time off, paid holidays and a 401k profit sharing plan with a generous company match.
Position Requirements
  • Previous copier, printer, office equipment, electronics, or similar experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, dependable, and accountable
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically throughout the day
  • Desire to continue learning and developing technical skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to share knowledge and experience with others
  • We will also consider candidates with no industry experience, but who possess a strong technical aptitude and personal or professional mechanical or electronics experience as well as the 6 attributes listed above.
