Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Corporate and M&A


Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced corporate and M&A lawyer to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team in the United States.

About the Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in corporate and M&A law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

Major responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.

  • Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.

  • Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.

  • Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.

  • Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.

  • Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About You

You're a fit for the role if you are a Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and have:

  • At least 8 years' experience of working as a corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in-house with a track record of leading complex M&A deals.

  • Extensive experience in:

    • Corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance), with in-depth knowledge of the Delaware General Corporation Law, Delaware Limited Liability Company Act, Delaware Limited Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act, and Delaware case law.

    • Mergers and acquisitions (public or private), including experience drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms and standard practice materials, as well as advising boards and senior management on related matters.

  • Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.

  • A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.

  • Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
