Job Summary:
Vertech is a leading provider of industrial automation solutions, and they are seeking a Systems Administrator II to join their growing internal IT team. The role involves maintaining and securing the internal infrastructure while supporting clients' industrial computer systems.
Responsibilities:
• Build, configure, and manage Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022)
• Administer and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, DNS, and DHCP
• Manage server virtualization platforms (Hyper-V and VMware), including provisioning, snapshots, and capacity planning
• Architect and implement server hardware configurations for both internal and client environments
• Support and manage Office 365 services including Microsoft Teams
• Manage and support Azure and other cloud-based resources
• Perform backup and disaster recovery operations for internal systems
• Handle patch management across all system devices using WSUS
• Implement and maintain server security and hardening based on current standards and best practices
• Manage user accounts, MFA implementation, and access controls
• Maintain asset management for all internal IT infrastructure including device replacement scheduling
• Create and maintain configuration documentation for computer systems
• Provide internal helpdesk support
• Assist with implementation and support of client industrial computer systems
• Assist with system audits and vulnerability assessments at customer facilities
Qualifications:
Required:
• 1-3 years of experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related technical role
• Solid understanding of Windows Server builds and management
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
• Experience with server virtualization (Hyper-V and/or VMware)
• Understanding of Group Policy administration
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments (Azure preferred)
• Understanding of Office 365 administration including Microsoft Teams
• Knowledge of backup and recovery management
• Understanding of server security and hardening principles
• Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell preferred)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving
• Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Availability to travel to industrial job sites and ability to obtain a passport
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information services, or related field, or at least one year of systems administrator experience
Preferred:
• Windows System Administrator certifications (MCSA or MCSE)
• Office 365, Azure, or AWS certifications
• Experience with WSUS and patch management
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP, OPC)
• Experience supporting client-facing industrial computer systems
• Exposure to network security concepts and vulnerability assessments
