SUMMARY:

Provides managerial oversight for IS learning and development. Ov erall supervisory responsibilities include technical, fiscal and personnel management such as, direct management and leadership of a highly-skilled team of education and IS application professionals, planning and executing implementation projects, financial budgeting, and establishing and meeting customer service targets. This position is responsible for overseeing all software application training classes, with a primary focus on electronic medical records (EMR) proficiency. It will also ensure the development and maintenance of classroom delivery, computer-based training programs and the master training environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Supports strategic direction and leadership for applications training within Tucson Medical Center.

Manages staff; interviews, hires and trains; evaluates employee performance; deals with performance problems as appropriate; dele gates work assignments effectively. Recruits, hires and develops a high performing team.

Manages all budgetary functions for the responsible team

Leads and manages educational strategy, rollout and maintenance of applications training. Responsible for the successful training for electronic medical record (EMR) and integrated applications thoughout the organization.

Assesses educational needs, objectives and curriculum to determine appropriateness for development of web-based, classroom, blended environments and certification programs.

Ensures training proficiency/competency of IS Epic trainers in the classroom. Provides feedback and recommends improvement process of instruction. Provides coaching and professional development opportunities for all training staff.

Instills adult learning theory and change management practices to plan and accomplish goals.

Uses results of course surveys to evolve and improve content and delivery methodologies. Provides regular metrics for training.

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Master's degree or equivalent experience in healthcare or adult education highly preferred

EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years of learning and development experience; preferably in a health system setting and managerial role.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Recommend clinicians, including RN's, maintain current state licensure. Applicable clinical license or technical certification preferred, e.g., Project Management (PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP), Technology Foundations (ITIL), or IT Leadership (CITM, ITMLP, or CPHIMS).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Familiarity managing e-learning development tools, curriculum development and instructional design models.

Familiarity in learning management systems and SCORM standards.

Strong leadership abilities with creative thinking and problem solving.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a self-directed work environment with minimal supervision and a high degree of self-motivation.

Requires a high degree of analytical thinking and problem solving skills within a high demand environment.

Knowledge of industry best practices and products.

Knowledge and understanding of adult learning theories and approaches as well as planning and organizing a variety of education seminars and courses.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively.

Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, with excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Must be able to deal with ambiguity and maintain confidentiality standards.

Proven track record of building teams and expanding training programs.

Strong leadership abilities with creative thinking and problem solving.
