Position Summary
The Part-Time Childcare Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn and grow. This position assists with implementing daily activities, supervising children, maintaining classroom routines, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities and classroom routines.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment.
- Supervise children and support their health, safety, and well-being.
- Encourage positive behavior and support children's social-emotional development.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily clean-up.
- Communicate positively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and program policies.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional learning opportunities as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) and successful completion of required background checks.
Schedule
- Part-time;, approximately 25 hours per week
- MondayFriday; school-year schedule based on program needs
Compensation
- Starting Pay for this role is $22.00 per hour, and may be eligible for a Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) stipend.
