Nature of Work PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE SEASONAL DAY LABORER $25.00/hour The City of Everett Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Day Laborers. This employment is temporary (up to six months in duration). It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System

This contribution is refundable upon the employees request at the completion of employment. These positions are not provided with City of Everett benefits. NATURE OF WORK This is unskilled work performing a variety of physical tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of city streets, storm drains, sewer and water systems.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, grounds keeping, painting, errands, general cleaning, pick and shovel work, and assisting crews with routine or special projects. Grounds keeping may include the use of various equipment such as weedeater, pressure washer, hand and power lawn mowers and power hedge trimmer. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of safety precautions and the ability to identify hazards including electrical hazards.

Ability to operate small hand and power tools and light equipment, autos and pickup trucks. Ability and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions and to keep accurate work records. Ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relations with supervisors, coworkers and the public.

Ability and willingness to support diversity and multi-cultural understanding in the workplace. Ability and willingness to maintain a work environment free of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Ability and willingness to be punctual and dependable.

Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including, but not limited to, weekends and holidays. Ability and willingness to work safely and in compliance with city policies and standards.
