Position Description:
The fundamental purpose of the hourly production (Labor Pool, part of a collective bargaining unit) position is to provide relief for openings in job families, to fill in for vacations, personal days, other leave situations. Labor pool employees may be assigned to all areas of the mill as needed. The position is responsible for a variety of job activities, including but not limited to housekeeping, cleaning out and preparing rail cars for shipment, operating rolling stock and other general mill duties as assigned or required. The duties depend on the priority of the assignments.
Position Requirements:
  • Must possess a personal dedication to working safely, including proactive support of efforts to create a culture of safety excellence
  • Must provide proof of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Must be willing and able to meet the demands of a 24/7 operation, including working a 12-hour rotating shift: Currently a "4-on 4-off" shift, consisting of two 12-hour days, followed by two 12-hour nights, then four consecutive days off before repeating sequence and be willing to work overtime.
  • Must have two years' work experience (heavy industrial preferred) or equivalent college/military experience during the last 4 years.

Domtar offers competitive wages starting at $25.60/hour with the opportunity of earning set up rate for qualified positions under the pay for skills compensation model. A range of benefits are offered, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, 401(k) with company match. Benefits are effective 1st of the Month following your hire date. Successful New Hires will earn (1) week of Paid Vacation at 6 Months of Employment and will be eligible for an additional week of Vacation after 1 year of Service; and will also receive (12) Paid Holidays annually. Domtar is a supporter in development and continuing education.
