Position Summary
ITT Cannon is looking for a Product Evaluation Lab Manager to oversee the test lab in Irvine, CA. This role has managerial oversight of the North American (N.A.) Test Lab located in Irvine and reporting to the Product Engineering organization. Working closely with N.A. management team, this role is responsible for the timely execution of product qualification, acceptance and developmental testing of ITT products in accordance with ITT Product Engineering, Customer, or Regulatory Agency requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with the North America management team to ensure the timely execution of product qualification, acceptance, and developmental testing of ITT products in accordance with ITT Product Engineering standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory agency criteria.
  • Lead the coordination and management of all test activities against defined test requirements, developing comprehensive test plans that fully leverage internal capabilities and approved external test facilities as required. Accountable for schedule development, on-time delivery to customer expectations, and budget control for each testing activity.
  • Ensure the accuracy, adequacy, and ongoing compliance of all Test and Measurement Equipment, including calibration control, to eliminate risk to regulatory compliance and project schedules.
  • Collaborate with ITT European test laboratory leadership to ensure seamless global testing capabilities, alignment of best practices, and effective sharing of lessons learned.
  • Manage, coach, and continuously develop a high-performing team of test engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Actively participate in the analysis of product performance test results and lead cross-functional reviews with process owners to recommend and implement potential product improvements.
  • Provide overall laboratory management and coordination for product testing, materials testing, and failure analysis activities.
  • Assign test engineers and technicians to specific projects based on skills, priorities, and resource availability to optimize efficiency and outcomes.
  • Oversee qualification, product, and design verification testing (DVT) in alignment with customer, internal, and government agency requirements.
  • Define, manage, and maintain testing schedules to ensure adherence to customer commitments and internal milestones.
  • Assess resource and equipment needs to support current and future testing initiatives, and develop annual capital plans to sustain and enhance laboratory capabilities and competitive advantage.
  • Prepare, review, and submit comprehensive test reports to internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Champion ITT's commitment to safety by ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures, participating in safety training and audits, and supporting the development of job safety analyses.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by Engineering leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership, communication, and coaching to employees while cultivating a high-performance culture of motivated employees, environment of trust, customer service, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership.
  • Conduct the Performance Management Process with direct reports for effectiveness, timeliness, and expected outcomes in focusing, aligning, and engaging employees in the pursuit of the overall business strategies and goals.
  • Support the acquisition and management of talent by
    • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work;
    • Appraising performance; and
    • Addressing employee complaints and resolving issues.
  • Promote adherence to the company's Code of Conduct and Policies (including safety protocols)
  • Partner closely with the North America management team to ensure the timely execution of product qualification, acceptance, and developmental testing of ITT products in accordance with ITT Product Engineering standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory agency criteria

Position Requirements
  • BS Degree in an applicable engineering field with a minimum 10 years of Laboratory experience OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Product Evaluation Lab managerial experience of 5 years minimum.
  • Experience in design and or test engineering • Knowledge of testing methods, engineering theories and laboratory procedures, including Mil-STD-810 and EIA-364-*.
  • In-depth knowledge of the qualification and adherence requirements to Mil-STD-790, specifically to impact on DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) and NAVAIR type products
  • Experience in Laboratory Management, Testing Schedules, Project Support
  • Capable of coordinating between outside contacts, customers, and internal customers as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to lead and problem solve in unstructured environments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.
Equal Pay Act Range
Annual salary range is from $122,900.00 to 183,300.00, plus benefits & incentive plans.
