Chapman University and Schmid College of Science and Technology seek applications for a Part-time Lab Lecturer for Physical Biochemistry Lab (BCHM 420L) for Fall 2026.

Schmid College of Science and Technology is one of 11 schools and colleges in the University. Responsibilities:
• Teach one 4-hour physical biochemistry lab section on Monday afternoon throughout the semester from 1:00p-4:50p. The lab focuses on instrumental methods of analyzing biomolecules, spectroscopy, separation of biomolecules, and studying the thermodynamics and kinetics of enzymatic reactions.
• Each week includes presenting a pre-laboratory lecture about the lab material, instructing and guiding students in correct laboratory technique and safety during the execution of a laboratory experiment, holding office hours, attending instructor meetings, and grading all assignments submitted by the students.
• The instructor must be available to attend lab instructor orientations before the start of the semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience
• Ability to communicate clearly with students in a laboratory setting
• Commitment to personalized education and the Chapman Experience in the Lab room.
Desired Qualification
• University or community college teaching experience, specifically with introductory STEM courses, such as biochemistry lab, physical biochemistry lab, general chemistry lab
