Job Title: Senior Release & Change Manager (Data Platforms)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Release & Change Manager to serve as the single point of coordination for our enterprise-wide data platform releases. You will be the "central hub" for our development ecosystem, synchronizing activities across multiple high-velocity agile delivery teams.
In this role, you will bring consistency, accountability, and operational excellence to our deployment lifecycle. You will orchestrate the transition from development to production, ensuring that complex, cross-team dependencies are managed, change management protocols are strictly followed, and that every release delivers value with minimal disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Release Orchestration
• Deployment Hub: Serve as the single point of coordination for releases across multiple scrum teams. Plan and schedule the release calendar to prevent conflicts and ensure synchronized deployments.
• Readiness & Decisioning: Conduct release readiness assessments, lead go/no-go decision meetings, and manage rollback procedures when necessary.
• Deployment Execution: Orchestrate deployment activities during scheduled evening release windows, facilitating communication, issue resolution, and post-release validation.
Change Management & Compliance
• Change Governance: Manage change requests from initiation to closure. Prepare comprehensive change documentation and lead Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews.
• Policy Stewardship: Ensure all changes align with security, compliance, and ITIL-based operational policies. Track and report on change metrics, including success rates and incident data.
Stakeholder Leadership & Continuous Improvement
• Cross-Functional Communication: Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams, operations, executive stakeholders, and external suppliers. Create deployment plans and distribute executive-level release summaries.
• Process Evolution: Evolve release management processes to align with ITIL best practices. Identify bottlenecks in the CI/CD pipeline and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase release frequency and stability.
• Risk Management: Maintain a risk register for all upcoming releases, implementing mitigation strategies to prevent data delays or service interruptions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing releases in a software engineering or IT service delivery organization.
• Technical Mastery:
oStrong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment architectures.
oHands-on experience with Agile and SAFe frameworks.
oSolid understanding of cloud environments (AWS).
oWorking knowledge of ITIL frameworks (Release and Change Management).
• Analytical Skills: Superior ability to assess complex technical architectures and drive rapid issue resolution under pressure.
Core Competencies
• Organizational Rigor: Exceptional ability to track multiple concurrent releases and inter-team dependencies.
• Executive Presence: Ability to switch fluidly between technical discussions with engineers and high-level status updates for executive leadership.
• Operational Discipline: A "detail-first" mindset with the composure to lead high-stakes production deployments.
