Location: Diamond Bar, CA (100% on-Site)

Business Hours: Mon- Fri, 9am – 6pm

Job Overview

Ono Hawaiian BBQ is seeking to hire a Payroll Staff, Level 1, with strong time management and attention to detail. The Payroll Staff will be responsible for supporting day-to-day payroll processing across 130+ restaurant locations with data entry, timekeeping verification, and payroll administration to ensure accurate and timely pay for all employees, perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Payroll Department.

 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities listed for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the collection, review, and entry of employee timekeeping data from restaurant locations into the payroll system.
  • Verify and reconcile time and attendance records to identify discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll runs for store-level employees.
  • Maintain, update, and verify employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from operations department managers and employees regarding pay stubs and timekeeping.
  • Generate standard payroll reports for review by store-level employees and managers.
  • Ensure payroll documents are properly filed and archived in compliance with company recordkeeping policies.
  • Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation assistance and audit support.
  • Follow all company payroll policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting when needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative support; restaurant or hospitality industry experience is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry.
  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Dayforce, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar) preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic wage and hour regulations a plus.
  • Familiarity with Dayforce, HRIS a plus.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Time management is a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish — strongly preferred.
  • Capacity for teamwork as well as working individually.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and carry items (15–25 pounds).
  • Sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse.
