Our Design team is responsible for establishing the trends, color, and style direction for our seasonal and customer-driven lines. They create apparel designs to be shared with internal teams during trend presentations, and external teams at buyer meetings. Once orders are placed, the Design team manages and oversees the sample development and production process in conjunction with cross-functional partners.

We are seeking an Assistant Intimate Apparel Designer to join the Danskin daywear team. (This could also be an Associate-level role for someone with 2+years experience.) Since 1882, Danskin has been synonymous with femininity, comfort, and quality. Widely known for its ballet roots, Danskin evolved into the ultimate female lifestyle brand for both women and girls. With soft tones and feminine details, Danskin continues to create fashionable, comfort-conscious intimate apparel, intimate apparel and sleepwear.

The ideal candidate will align with the aesthetic, be self-motivated, eager to learn and able to execute the below essential responsibilities.

  • Research the market and assist designer with seasonal trends, colors, prints and silhouettes to support the senior team.
  • Attend and assist in design meetings, proto reviews, and line reviews.
  • Assist in preparations for product presentations and market week.
  • Responsible for managing execution of production packages including color and trim specifications and preparing production ready print and graphic artwork.
  • Project manage production timelines, sending out artwork and color standards.
  • Check sample requests, development packages, and production packages for accuracy, (including pricing), prior to sending to factories.
  • Correspond with overseas factories regarding production.
  • Oversee production work of assistant designers; delegate work and tasks based on priority.
  • Work with senior team in choosing colors and prints for design presentations.
  • Assist designers with the trim and fabric library, color pallets, and flat sketching.
  • Recolor prints in multiple seasonal colorways.
  • Assist Designer with strike offs and lab dips.
  • Execute organized and accurate technical development packages that include construction details, sketches, fabrications, trims, print, and color details.
  • Attend fittings to support senior team.
  • Manage day to day projects including filing and organizing.
  • Assist Designer with strike offs and lab dips.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in fashion or intimate apparel.
  • Fashion degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, & Microsoft Excel.
  • Positive attitude and team player.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be passionate about fashion and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
