About the Job Health Information Management - Remote

Under the direction of the Health Information (HIM) Supervisor, the Health Information Clerk will maintain, and make available to authorized users timely, accurate, secure and complete client health information records within department guidelines, workflow, HIPAA law and regulation. This position is responsible for various clerical support functions required for the daily operations of the HIM Department.

  • Identifies the different types of paper documents and files or scans records into permanent file folder within the document management system following pre-determined closed chart format.
  • Responsible for scanning closed history charts into the document management software.
  • Responsible for purging charts in accordance to State and Federal law and agency policies.
  • Files or scans all loose sheets into closed charts per closed chart format.
  • Provide service to internal and external customers by answering the phone and assisting walk in customers. Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and team meetings.
  • Remains compliant with required trainings and certifications.
  • Maintain appropriate and professional communication with HIM Department workforce members, internal and external customers.
  • Behaves in an ethical and professional manner consistent with agency policy, state law, and licensing entities if applicable.

What You Will Be Carrying Along

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Degree or Certificate in related field preferred.
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record and document management system preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a medical records or health information department, to include tasks such as purging, filing, and responding to records requests preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers License including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
