Job description

The NYC office of a global trading company is looking for a contract based Payroll Administrator to join their team for the next 5-6 months. They're hoping there is potential for the role to go perm at the end of the contract term. This is a FULLY IN-OFFICE position located in midtown Manhattan. This position is ideal for a candidate with a couple of years of experience running and processing multi-state payroll, ideally with exposure to some other aspectes HR as well.


Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, calculate hours, overtime, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and manage timekeeping.
  • Prepare payroll reports, generate summaries for finance
  • Help with W’2s, annual reconciliations, quarterly audits


Talent Acquisition Support

  • Coordinate interview scheduling between candidates, hiring managers, and recruiters.
  • Post job openings on internal and external job boards.
  • Screen resumes against basic job requirements and forward qualified candidates to hiring managers.
  • Assist with candidate communications throughout the recruitment process.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Support recruitment events, career fairs, and campus recruiting initiatives.
  • Prepare interview materials and candidate packets as needed.
  • Monitor and track recruitment metrics and hiring activity reports.


HR Administration

  • Maintain employee records and update HR systems with accurate information.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding, including preparing documentation and coordinating orientation schedules.
  • Support employee lifecycle activities such as transfers, promotions, and offboarding.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding HR processes and policies.
  • Generate standard HR reports and maintain confidential employee data.
  • Assist with document management, filing, and compliance-related activities.


Employee Experience Support

  • Help coordinate employee engagement programs and HR initiatives.
  • Support training logistics and learning programs.
  • Assist with communications related to HR programs and events.
  • Ensure a positive experience for both candidates and employees through timely and professional interactions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Payroll processing; exposure to Recruiting, or other HR functions preferred but not required.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and comfort with numbers.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Payroll software and HRIS proficiency preferred, but not required (Paychex, ADP, Workday, Bamboo)
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
