Job description

Seedco is an affiliate of The Acacia Network, the leading Latino integrated care nonprofit in the nation, offering the community, from children to seniors, a pathway to behavioral and primary healthcare, housing, and empowerment. Seedco is a national nonprofit organization that advances economic opportunities for people, businesses, and communities in need. The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) has selected Seedco to manage the Connector Entity Program, to provide education and health insurance opportunities, and enrollment assistance to residents on the Upper Eastern Shore, Lower Shore, and Southern Regions of Maryland. MHBE’s product, Maryland Health Connection, provides a marketplace for individuals, families, and small businesses to compare and enroll in health insurance, as well as determine eligibility for Medicaid, CHIP, federal tax credits, and cost-sharing reductions in qualified health plans.

Seedco provides program management for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange in thirteen Maryland counties. Services provided by Seedco’s Enrollment Counselors include eligibility screenings, facilitated enrollment services, referrals and outreach, working individually and as part of a team. This position provides services primarily in Caroline, Queen Anne's Counties and as needed in neighboring counties. Hours are primarily M-F 8:30-4:30 with occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Key Essential Functions:

· Complete State of Maryland training courses and obtain certification, obtaining comprehensive skills in the HBX system. Comply with all continuing education and recertification requirements.

· Provide courteous, professional, and confidential assistance in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to all clients seeking health benefits.

· Handle sensitive and personal information, adhering to client confidentiality and PII.

· Provide assistance with changes to income and household data in a consumer’s account.

· Present plan comparisons including co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses.

· Complete eligibility for Federal tax credits, Medicaid, and Qualified Health Plans.

· Inform consumers of requirements to remain enrolled in the program/s.

· Enter data from consumer interactions, outreach, and education activities.

· Ensure that follow-up is completed to capture enrollment and outreach outcomes.

· Conduct education and outreach within local communities about health insurance options through Maryland Health Connection and the Connector Program.

· Participate in outreach and education events, as identified.

· Work independently, traveling to partner locations and conducting outreach to promote insurance options through the Maryland Health Connection Connector Program.

· Retain and implement policies, procedures, and best practices, working to overcome challenges.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.

· Excellent computer skills: including familiarity with Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to browse the Web comfortably; experience with database software a plus.

· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal and communications skills necessary.

· Excellent organizational skills, diligence, problem solving, meeting deadlines and productivity standards.

· Ability to put clients at ease while asking sensitive and personal questions.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups and/or government programs strongly preferred.

· Experience working in a data-driven environment and a proven record of achieving performance targets is preferred; Knowledge of Health Insurance options preferred.

· Bi-lingual Spanish speaking a plus.
