The Memory CAD Engineering organization plays a critical role in enabling Micron's custom memory design teams through advanced design automation, workflow innovation, and engineering productivity solutions.

The AI Design Enablement team focuses on applying AI-assisted methods to real semiconductor design challenges, helping accelerate development, improve quality, and enhance engineering efficiency across custom memory workflows.

About the Role

We are looking for experienced EDA/CAD engineer with hands-on AI, ML, or LLM experience who is excited to shape the next generation of AI-assisted workflows for custom memory development. In this role, you will apply yourexpertisein IC design, layout, verification, simulation, and design automation toidentifyand deliver high-value solutions that improve engineering productivity, quality, and cycle time. This position offers the opportunity tobuild ona strong CAD foundation while growing into a broader AI-focused role over time.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy software, automation, and AI-assisted solutions that improve IC design workflows across layout, verification, simulation, and tape-out activities
  • Develop and enhance AI-assisted tools, agents, and automation that improve engineering productivity and design team efficiency
  • Collaborate with worldwide design, layout, verification, and CAD teams toidentifyhigh-impact use cases for automation and AI enablement
  • Build andmaintainCAD tools, workflow integrations, and supporting technical content for design teams
  • Support evaluation, qualification, deployment, and integration of EDA tools and AI-enhanced workflows
  • Explore and apply generative AI and machine learning techniques to practical custom IC design and design enablement challenges
  • Contribute to scalable software development practices, including code quality, testing, maintainability, and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience for Senior level consideration; significantly more experience with broader technical leadership and impact for Principal level consideration
  • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML, LLMs, or advanced automation techniques to real engineering problems
  • Strong programming skills in Python, experience developing maintainable technical software or automation solutions, familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows and/or agent-based automation concepts.
  • Knowledge of CMOS design, custom layout, circuit verification, and semiconductor design fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with custom memory design, including DDR, LPDDR, HBM, or NAND, physical verification flows such as Calibre DRC, LVS, or LPE.
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, SKILL programming, parameterized cells, or custom design environments
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as HSPICE orSpectre, and familiarity with digital verification concepts
  • Experience building developer tools, command-line utilities, workflow integrations, or plugin-based tooling, familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or Scikit-learn
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs or related AI capabilities into engineering tools and workflows, working in Linux-based development with current software engineering practices.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$98,000.00 - $267,000.00 a year

Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
