Job description

Senior Development Manager- Retail

Location: Dallas, TX (National Projects)

The Opportunity

This is an Owner’s Rep-style role where you will drive development projects from acquisition through construction.

You won’t be sitting on the sidelines coordinating pieces—you will be the central operator responsible for keeping projects aligned, on schedule, and moving forward across all phases.

If you’ve ever wanted true ownership of development execution, this is that seat.

About the Company

A fully integrated real estate development firm with 40+ years of execution, $4B+ in delivered projects, and a national retail platform.

You’ll be working alongside leadership that has decades of experience and long-standing industry relationships.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • You will act as the owner’s representative across the full development lifecycle:
  • Drive projects from acquisition → entitlements → design → construction
  • Own and maintain integrated development schedules across all phases
  • Lead and hold accountable civil engineers, architects, consultants, and contractors
  • Direct entitlement strategy and manage municipal approval processes
  • Identify and solve development risks before they impact schedule or budget
  • Oversee due diligence and ensure findings are translated into actionable decisions Align tenant requirements with development execution and construction timelines

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Projects stay on schedule because issues are identified early
  • Consultants and contractors are aligned and accountable
  • Entitlements move efficiently through municipalities
  • Budgets are protected through proactive decision-making
  • Ownership has clear visibility into project status and risks

What We Are Looking For

  • 8–15 years in commercial real estate development or construction
  • Proven experience delivering ground-up projects
  • Strong background in entitlements, civil coordination, and development scheduling
  • Retail or mixed-use experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders without losing control of the project

What Makes This Role Different

  • True end-to-end ownership (not siloed)
  • Exposure to national retail development deals
  • Lean team → your work actually matters
  • Long-tenured leadership → stable platform + real mentorship

Who This Is Perfect For

Someone who:

  • Has operated as the de facto owner’s rep on projects
  • Is used to being the person responsible when things go wrong
  • Prefers driving decisions vs waiting for direction
  • Thinks ahead and solves problems before they escalate
