Location: Seattle, WA

Total Compensation: 110k Base Salary, 30k+ On Track Commissions (Uncapped), Car Allowance.

Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales and marketing roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.

We are working with a market leading global microscopy and imaging instrumentation manufacturer to find a field-based Advanced Laser Microscopy Sales Specialist, covering the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. The candidate should be based out of the Seattle area (a relocation package will be offered to well qualified candidates).

Product coverage includes sales and support of advanced confocal, multiphoton, and super resolution systems, all with in the Life Sciences market.

This is an exciting and rewarding role for someone who loves: advanced microscopy and imaging, science and technology, helping scientists solve their research problems, driving a strategic sales process, and communicating complex topics. We are looking for someone with the unique combination of scientific knowledge and credibility, excellent communication skills, an aptitude for business and sales, and advanced confocal microscopy experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional sales and support of advanced microscopy products, including but not limited to: confocal, multiphoton, and superresolution systems.

  • Act as the primary advanced product support expert for local specialists and account managers within the region.

  • Work as a team with Account Managers and Product Specialists to achieve sales targets by managing all aspects of the sales cycle; including: prospecting, customer needs-assessment, follow-up, quotation preparation, demonstration, closing, and follow up customer support

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer microscopy applications and challenges and make authoritative recommendations on solutions

  • Lead critical high end instrument product demonstrations and customer training sessions

  • Conduct on site professional customer meetings and product demonstrations

  • Working with Account Managers and Product Specialists, respond to institutional RFPs and Tenders in a proficient and timely manner

  • Ensure training of local Product Specialists within the region on advanced laser microscopy systems.

  • Maintain professional and constructive relationships with colleagues to ensure positive sharing of and collaboration on: product information and feedback, scientific application updates, sales strategies, and general market updates.

  • Be active with self-directed learning regarding microscopy technology/applications, and sales/business practices using extensive company resources

  • Work with Product Management to recommend product improvements, and to further increase product marketability

  • Maintain demonstration equipment to ensure it is kept in excellent condition

  • Maintain sales opportunity information within company CRM software to ensure management has accurate sales pipeline information


Essential Requirements:

    • Advanced University Degree within the life sciences (PhD, or MSc preferred).

    • A very high degree of knowledge and experience with life sciences microscopy and its applications. Extensive hands on experience and expertise with confocal microscopy is essential

    • Scientific optical instrumentation sales or applications experience is highly preferred.

    • Must be comfortable in a collaborative team selling environment

    • A high degree of computer literacy is required. Must be proficient within a Windows environment: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Ability to adapt and learn new software is key.

    • Must be comfortable with computer hardware and software troubleshooting (e.g. driver, software installation/troubleshooting, PC card installation, etc).

    • Must exhibit a strong ability to work in a team environment

    • Highly developed organizational and project management skills

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be comfortable presenting complex topics to groups.

    • Must be fully fluent in English

    • Ability to travel overnight up to 75% of the working days (50% - 8-10 nights/month is typical)

    • Requires a valid current drivers license

    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
