This position combines mechanical engineering knowledge, manufacturing experience, and customer-facing technical sales responsibilities.

The Technical Sales Engineer will work closely with customers to understand engineering applications, review drawings and specifications, recommend appropriate product solutions, and prepare accurate quotations. The position also collaborates with internal engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer service teams to ensure customer requirements can be successfully translated into production.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with customer interaction and commercial responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an engineering and technical resource for the Sales team during customer engagements by phone, email, web meetings, and in-person discussions.

  • Participate in customer meetings, conference calls, trade shows, and site visits to support technical discussions and project development.
  • Partner with sales representatives, customer service, engineering, and operations to address customer requirements.
  • Follow up on quotations and proposals to support sales growth and revenue objectives.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through timely communication, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of company products, manufacturing capabilities, applications, and industry use cases.
  • Support order entry and coordinate with operations to help ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Assist with sales and marketing initiatives, including outbound follow-up, email campaigns, and lead nurturing.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, quotations, and sales activities in the CRM system.
  • Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in applications engineering, mechanical engineering, technical sales, manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Experience working with manufactured mechanical products, components, machinery, or engineered products.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting quotations, proposals, RFQs, or technical product configurations.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customer engineers as well as internal sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using CRM software or similar sales/customer management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customer requests and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an engineered-to-order, custom component, metalworking, machining, stamping, fabrication, spring/wire-form, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience as an Applications Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Product Engineer, or similar customer-facing engineering professional.
  • Experience supporting OEM or industrial customers.
  • Familiarity with RFQ-to-order processes and manufacturing feasibility discussions.
  • Experience participating in customer site visits, technical presentations, or industry trade shows.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines mechanical engineering knowledge with strong customer-facing skills. This individual should be comfortable discussing technical requirements with engineers, reviewing drawings and specifications, collaborating with manufacturing teams, developing quotations, and following opportunities through the sales process.

This position is particularly well suited for an engineer who enjoys solving customer problems and wants broader exposure to technical sales and business development while remaining closely connected to engineering and manufacturing.
