Position Summary:
Northern State University seeks a collaborative faculty-support professional to lead instructional design initiatives and coordinate Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) operations in support of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
A key priority is helping NSU faculty leverage Northern's unique e-learning mission to enhance teaching and learning across all modalities, including on campus, online, and HyFlex.
Key Responsibilities:
* Faculty Support & Instructional Design
• Guide course development and improvement across all modalities (on campus, online, and HyFlex) using best practices in instructional and universal design.
• Lead the Quality Assurance Review process for online and HyFlex courses.
• Consult with faculty on course design, technology integration, experiential learning, and digital tools.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and federal regulations in coordination with Online Learning and Continuing Education. Leadership in Pedagogy
• Champion experiential learning and support faculty in adopting new technologies, expanding student engagement, and redesigning assessments to support student learning outcomes.
• Design and deliver trainings, including creating micro-credentials for online and HyFlex instruction.
• Share research in teaching and learning, assessment, teaching innovations, and student success through CETL communications and strategic initiatives. CETL Program Coordination
• Manage CETL events, trainings, communications, and day-to-day operations.
• Supervise CETL graduate assistant and technology fellow. Represent NSU in SDBOR and COPLAC teaching networks and coordinate faculty mentoring efforts.
Knowledge of:
* Pedagogy, learning management systems, learning theories, technologies and computer software.
Skill & Ability to:
Communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, collaborate across faculty of various ranks and disciplines, prioritize daily tasks while advancing long-term goals, host events and trainings, organize an office and manage student employees, and maintain detailed records.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Degree in instructional design, technology, pedagogy, education, preferred.
