Position Summary
The Manager of Instructional Design provides strategic leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for the team of Learning Experience Consultants and Online Education Multi-Media personnel across the district. This position ensures effective instructional design support, faculty training, and course development initiatives to enhance teaching and learning across multiple modalities. The Manager is responsible for overseeing LEC and Online Education Multi-Media personnel work schedules, training, professional development, performance evaluations, and hiring. Additionally, this role collaborates with institutional leadership to implement instructional strategies, assess the effectiveness of faculty support programs, and ensure continuous improvement of instructional technologies.
Primary Duties Performed
• Supervise and manage a team of Learning Experience Consultants (LECs) and Online Education Multi-Media personnel, including scheduling, workload distribution, and operational oversight to ensure seamless faculty support across the district.
• Conduct performance evaluations, mentoring, and professional development for LECs and Online Education Multi-Media personnel, ensuring continuous growth and excellence in instructional support.
• Develop and implement faculty training programs on instructional best practices, accessibility compliance, and emerging learning technologies and facilitate Quality Matters workshops to ensure faculty opportunities for certification.
• Oversee the instructional design and course development process, ensuring faculty receive expert consultation and support in developing high-quality, accessible, and effective courses.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty and administrators on instructional design policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of new LECs and Online Education Multi-Media personnel, including defining hiring criteria, mentoring, and creating an effective transition into the department.
• Monitor and assess faculty engagement with instructional design resources to enhance instructional effectiveness and inform continuous improvement strategies.
• Collaborate with departmental leadership to align instructional support services with broader academic goals, accreditation standards, and faculty development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, instructional design best practices, and institutional policies.
• Manage department projects, initiatives, and special instructional innovation efforts as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Extensive knowledge of instructional design principles, faculty development, and online learning best practices.
• Advanced understanding of instructional technology, learning management systems (LMS), and emerging digital learning tools.
• Experience in hiring, training, and mentoring professional staff.
SKILLS:
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with experience managing teams, assigning workloads, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and external partners.
ABILITIES:

Qualifications/Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or a related field.
• At least three (3) years of experience in group oriented instructional design, faculty development, or higher education leadership.
• Supervisory experience required, with demonstrated ability to manage professional teams.
• Experience with instructional technology, accessibility compliance, and faculty engagement strategies.
• Familiarity with accreditation requirements and institutional policies related to faculty development and course design.
