SUMMARY:
The Cloud Engineer I plays a foundational role in supporting the bank's cloud adoption strategy across a multi-state enterprise environment. This position focuses on implementing secure, scalable cloud solutions. Assist in deploying cloud infrastructure, developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), managing cloud resources, and contributing to enterprise cloud automation and migration initiatives.
This role is ideal for candidates beginning their cloud engineering careers who have strong foundational cloud knowledge, hands on scripting skills, and a passion for building secure, automated cloud environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment
Deploys and supports cloud infrastructure solutions in Azure, with secondary exposure to AWS.
Assists in the design and implementation of scalable, resilient cloud architecture.
Implements cloud resource provisioning using IaC frameworks.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Develops and maintains modules for repeatable cloud deployments.
Supports ARM/Bicep template utilization where required.
Maintains version control and CI/CD integration for IaC pipelines.
Cloud Resource Management
Monitors, manages, and optimizes Azure and AWS cloud resources.
Performs tagging, governance enforcement, and operational maintenance within cloud environments.
Security & Compliance
Implements cloud security best practices, including identity, access, encryption, and monitoring.
Supports remediation activities for cloud vulnerabilities and configuration drift.
Assists in meeting FFIEC, NIST, SOC, CIS, and internal audit requirements in cloud deployments.
Cost Optimization
Implements cost governance policies such as tagging standards, rightsizing, and workload optimization.
Cloud Automation & Migration
Supports automation of operational tasks using scripting (PowerShell/Python).
Participates in application and workload migration projects.
Implements automation for patching, configuration, and environment provisioning.
Operational Support
Assists with incident resolution, root cause analysis, and performance troubleshooting for cloud workloads.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Networking, Security, DevOps, and Application Development.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Banking is a highly regulated industry and you will be expected to acquire and maintain a proficiency in the bank's policies and procedures, and adhere to all laws, rules and regulations that are applicable to your conduct and the work you will be performing. You will also be expected to complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.
Strong understanding of Azure concepts: compute, storage, networking, IAM, policies, resource groups.
Familiarity with AWS fundamentals, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC.
Hands-on experience creating Infrastructure-as-Code.
Basic experience with ARM or Bicep templates.
Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python.
Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Understanding of cloud security architecture, identity and access management, and network security principles.
Strong communication and analytical thinking.
Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
Willingness to learn and grow within a regulated financial environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
and/or equivalent education and experience required.
Minimum of 2 years of Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related experience required.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, required.
Security certifications (Security+, AZ-500, or similar), preferred.
DevOps certifications (AZ-400, Terraform Associate, etc.), preferred.
