Job description

THE POSITION As an Information Technology Generalist 1 with the Department of Corrections, State correctional Institution (SCI) Laurel Highlands, you will help strengthen the technology that supports facilities across the state. This position provides meaningful work that keeps important systems available and dependable. You will grow your skills by handling a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports the operation and improvement of computer, network, and application systems that serve the institution. It focuses on service, analysis, system reliability, and teamwork across users and technical staff.

As an Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties: User Support: Provide guidance on hardware and software use and assist users in solving technical issues System Analysis: Review current processes and gather data to create improved applications and workflows Network Management: Monitor network availability, configure equipment, and maintain connectivity to ensure reliable operations Security Oversight: Maintain user accounts, review security logs, and apply protective measures to safeguard systems Technical Installation: Install, upgrade, and adjust hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and application software Training Assistance: Deliver training to staff and support lower-level technical personnel in system procedures Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of 59,345.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
