Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Industrial Engineer / Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA.
The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Palmdale. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for applicants that enjoy working with and learning from their peers and are not afraid to jump in and make a difference!
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and iterate on detail production build schedules by working closely with Development and Production Operations
  • Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving solutions.
  • Utilize various Continuous Improvement tools to analyze shop floor practices and processes for opportunities to minimize waste, reduce cost, increase capacity and optimize schedule.
  • Work with frontline leadership to assess current state reality and define future state possibilities
  • Provide tactics and training to frontline leaders and shop floor personnel to improve the current state and facilitate value generation
  • Conduct studies and generate metrics pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery.
  • Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence within program management and customers
  • Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery.
  • Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations.

This requisition may be filled at either an Industrial Engineer (T02) or Principal Industrial Engineer (T03).
Basic Qualifications:
Industrial Engineer
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 Years of relevant experience; Master of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 0 Years relevant experience.
  • Ability to work on an assembly floor.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Must have an active DOD Secret level clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Clearance is required to start. Special program access required to start

Principal Industrial Engineer
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 Years of relevant experience; Master of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 Years relevant experience.
  • Ability to work on an assembly floor.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and hands on experience using shop floor production system (MES, etc.)

  • Experience with data visualization & dashboard creation/ maintenance (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Project management experience
  • Report programming experience (SQL, Crystal, MS Query, Bus. Objects, etc.)
  • Experience performing Earned Value Management
  • Demonstrated interest in leadership.

Pay Range
  • Industrial Engineer: $83,400 - $125,500
  • Principal Industrial Engineer: $103,600 - 155,400

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
