Job description

Job Summary-
The COS Improvement Engineer will apply engineering and Lean Six Sigma knowledge and concepts to
identify, scope, and manage projects and activities that will improve process control and overall plant
efficiency. The position requires the ability to build strong working relationships and communicate
effectively with plant personnel and management to effectively identify and execute the activities. Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills are also required. Standard work hours Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
with occasional overtime and weekends required. Travel 20% throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Apply engineering knowledge to the manufacturing processes to identify improvement
opportunities.
โ€ข Perform root cause analysis to reduce process variability.
โ€ข Utilize statistical analysis and software tools to evaluate manufacturing data.
โ€ข Prepare written justifications for approved capital expenditures (ACEs).
โ€ข Play a key role in advancing CCM's lean journey across the organization.
โ€ข Facilitate events and meetings focused on manufacturing improvements and cost reduction.
โ€ข Track and report project savings.
โ€ข Coordinate and manage numerous teams and projects to execute and sustain improvement
projects.
โ€ข Identify and prioritize potential manufacturing improvement projects in responsible plants.
โ€ข Attend and facilitate Kaizen and other continuous improvement events throughout the
organization.
โ€ข Work with the COS team to further drive the overall COS journey to establish a culture of
continuous improvement throughout CCM.
โ€ข Research and prepare written justifications for capital expenditures.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Operational understanding of manufacturing, business software systems, business systems
functions and how they inter-relate, and customer expectations.
โ€ข Proficient understanding of fundamental Lean tools including, but not limited to, Value Stream
Mapping, 5S, Mistake Proofing, TPM, MDI, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
โ€ข Strong understanding of Six Sigma tools and approach including, but not limited to, DMAIC,
Measurement System Analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability,
Experimental Design (DOE), etc.
โ€ข Effective project and time management techniques
โ€ข Working knowledge of various software systems including Microsoft Office, SAP, Minitab,
Wonderware, etc.
โ€ข Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, problem solving and
analytical skills, conflict resolution, listening skills, coaching and facilitating skills.
โ€ข Ability to identify, scope, and execute numerous improvement projects simultaneously.
โ€ข Capacity to communicate complex theories in simple terms to all levels of the organization.
โ€ข Effectively able to articulate technical details in written form.
Education and Experience:
Required:
o Bachelor's degree, preferably in Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
o 2+ years of experience in a lean Six Sigma enterprise or equivalent educational
experience.
o Lean Champion Certification and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus
