TITLE: Title I Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS: Two years college experience
Experience working with children
REPORTS TO: Director of Literacy in consultation with building principal
CONFERS WITH: Building reading specialist, administrator(s), classroom teachers, and other professional staff
JOB GOAL: To assist students in meeting the Salem School District reading standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. To provide direct reading instruction to students in consultation with the reading specialist.
  2. To administer standardized and informal reading assessments.
  3. To utilize assessment data to inform instruction.
  4. To monitor and record student progress and share information with the building reading specialist, classroom teacher, and other professional staff, as appropriate.
  5. To maintain student records as required by the district.
  6. To work collaboratively with classroom teachers, building reading specialist, and other professional staff to deliver a cohesive program that supports classroom instruction.
  7. To work cooperatively with staff to achieve school objectives.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be established by school board by August 20th.
2026-2027 HOURLY SALARY: $18.81 plus $1.00 for holding a certification from the NH Department of Education as a paraeducator II or a teacher.
HOURS/DAY: 5.5
SCHOOL YEAR 178 days/year
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated no less than annually by the Director of Literacy.
