Reports To: Principal
This position is funded with Title l, Part A and continued funding of this position will be based on the availability of Title l, Part A funds.
EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • To assist the Title l schoolwide campuses in carrying out duties necessary to provide academic support to at risk students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Texas Educational Aide Certificate

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Ability to work well with students
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

EXPERIENCE:
  • None

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.
  • Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc.
  • Execute daily plans under the direction of the teacher for the at-risk students.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned by principal.
  • To help at risk students master instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:
  • Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Physical demands/environmental factors:
  • Standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 40 lbs.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, as to operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms.
  • Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
