Position Summary
The HR Intern provides administrative and clerical support to the HR and Payroll team, assisting with recordkeeping, new hire onboarding, offboarding, employee services, and general office coordination. This role offers hands-on exposure to core HR and payroll processes and is well suited to a student or early-career candidate seeking practical experience in human resources.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and process individual Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for schedule changes, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in each employee's file.
  • Conduct first-pass reviews of PAFs, flagging items that touch pay class, compensation, deductions, or other payroll-impacting fields prior to final approval.
  • Perform initial review of timesheets for missing punches, errors, or late submissions, and log discrepancies by supervisor.
  • Enter ex-no work codes for employees impacted by unplanned events (e.g., power outages, system outages).
  • Prepare weekly attendance bonus reporting.
  • Assemble new hire packets, including orientation slides, supervisor contact sheets, and benefits information.
  • Assist with new hire orientation, including taking photos for badges/records and filing completed safety test documentation.
  • Enter new employees into Plex.
  • Submit IT requests for new hire equipment and system access
  • Process employee terminations in Paycom, Plex, and the Badge System; pull employee files as needed.
  • Review completed termination forms to confirm all required steps have been completed.
  • Respond to employment verification requests and unemployment claims
  • Order and maintain HR department supplies; enter related purchase orders.
  • Order and manage the employee shirt program, including sizing and distribution.
  • Review and update employee points records.

  • Enrolled in Human Resources or relevant degree program.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills the candidate must be able to establish priorities, successfully juggle those multiple priorities and deadlines and consistently communicate progress and outcomes achieved. Enjoy working with a wide range of personalities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be an articulate, reliable, detail oriented and solution minded individual with a "can do attitude".
  • Proficiency in administrative programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Always demonstrates a professional and mature demeanor, working in a positive and professional manner with internal/external contacts. Ability to deal with people in a patient and positive manner.
