Job description

Basic Function
HF Sinclair is seeking a high-potential, early career professional to join the Finance track of our Rotational Development Program based in Dallas, Texas. This is a 2-year rotational program that provides broad business exposure, hands-on experience, and executive visibility while offering associates an opportunity to rotate throughout the financial segments of the business before settling in a specialized role. The candidate will take ownership on assigned projects, gain cross-functional business knowledge and develop a deep understanding of how our corporate support teams advance HF Sinclair's strategic financial objectives. The associate will integrate within functional business teams, including Internal Audit, Accounting, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis.

Job Duties
Job duties within each of the functional business teams could include the following:
  • Internal Audit:
    • Conducts financial and operational risk-based audits and review of internal controls of the Company's operations; projects cover a wide variety of business risks across financial, operational, technological and strategic areas.
    • Develops recommendations for audit findings, focusing on strengthening internal controls, quality, and efficiency.
    • Assists in annual Sarbanes-Oxley ("SOX") 404 testing including process documentation, testing execution, issue follow-up, and External Audit assistance.
  • Accounting:
    • Prepares journal entries impacting the Company's financial reporting, completes account reconciliations on significant balance sheet valuations.
    • Ensures the timely close of the financial books by coordinating closely with other departments within the Company.
    • Performs analysis providing assurance to the accuracy of the Company's financial statements.
  • Treasury:
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of counterparty financial statements to ensure no deterioration in financial strength and creditworthiness.
    • Prepare and maintain various reporting materials to assist with customer counterparty management and risk controls.
    • Attend and participate in appropriate credit and collection training to gain better understanding of credit/collection processes and systems functionality.
    • Review and assist with collection processes and methods that will lead to an overall improvement in the Company Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
    • Performs daily bank account validations for all new vendors and bank account changes.
    • Review, independently validate, and approves ERP vendor master data for banking.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis:
    • Performs advanced and complex financial consolidation, analysis, reporting, forecasting and budgeting
    • Researches and prepares financial variance analysis and explanations at the corporate and business segment level for monthly management business review.
    • Creates presentations for management, including annual budget and segment level financial presentations.
    • Assist FP&A team with ad hoc financial analysis projects to help support business leaders.

Experience
Must have successfully completed an internship program and must be a recent college graduate.
Education Level
A minimum of a bachelors degree in business or related field with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Required Skills
Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills with solid attention to detail. Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task complex requirements. Needs to show initiative, an authentic desire to learn, and strong problem-solving skills. Must be results oriented with an ability to influence through good written and verbal communication.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 20% travel by land or air.
