Job description


At Heath, you'll play a key role in driving the development of next-generation products that support the natural gas and utility industry. As our New Product Development Project Manager, you'll lead cross-functional engineering initiatives that combine hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing to deliver innovative solutions that make a difference.

Candidates MUST be local to the Houston, TX area( Near Hobby Airport) for the interview process and work environment.

What You'll Do

As the project leader for New Product Development (NPD), you'll be responsible for guiding projects through every phase of the product lifecycle—from concept and design through testing, manufacturing, and launch.

  • Lead multiple New Product Development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Facilitate design reviews, milestone meetings, and project gate reviews.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
  • Monitor project progress, communicate status to leadership, and ensure accountability across project teams.
  • Coordinate engineering testing, prototyping, validation, and product launch activities.
  • Serve as a technical resource when needed, leveraging your engineering expertise to help solve complex challenges.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for an engineering professional who enjoys leading technical teams and bringing innovative products to market.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of engineering design experience.
  • 2+ years of project management experience leading technical or engineering projects.
  • Experience managing New Product Development (NPD) projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical product development.
  • Experience developing project schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project or similar project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with instrumentation, embedded systems, battery-powered devices, or firmware-driven products.
  • Experience leading hardware and software development projects simultaneously.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management training.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
