Job description

Department: Operations - Hockey
Reports To: Hockey Operations Lead
Contract: Fixed-term Contract
Salary: $58,500-$62,500
Location: Atlanta, GA
Role and Team Overview:
The Hockey Operations Supervisor oversees our NHL and WHL tracking and replay operations. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of optical tracking as well as SMART Replay systems, with the ability to manage and provide effective feedback to a team of Operators. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth delivery of our cloud-based NHL tracking systems and will require a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the live delivery of our Hockey SkeleTRACK and SMART Systems in both the NHL and WHL.
  • Liaising with league staff, onsite technicians and internal operators to deliver a flawless operation.
  • Execute daily hardware investigations and resolutions.
  • Execute software roll-outs and address data investigation tasks.
  • Identify potential issues and work to find solutions to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise, investigate to find root causes or mitigation to ensure successful delivery.
  • Communicate issues effectively both internally and externally. Report issues for further investigation and complete a successful handoff.
  • Assist with leading training sessions across all specific roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee pre-game checks of the systems in accordance with standard procedures and solve problems in a timely manner when issues arise.
  • Assist and oversee the operating of the technologies during the game remotely from the Atlanta Office.
  • Ensure a positive, productive working environment

What Does A Typical Day Look Like?
In Season
  • Be the "Capitan of the Ship" in the ops room - lead the team with a positive, troubleshooting mindset and set the tone for the team.
  • Shift pattern varies (From 9AM-5PM day shifts to 5PM-2AM)
  • Confirm operational setup is satisfactory
  • Troubleshoot, investigate, resolve and report (potentially new) issues as they arise
  • Prioritize how to attack troubleshooting multiple issues that pop up at the same time
  • Assist Leads as needed with any open investigations into hardware, software or operational needs
  • Ensure SkeleTrack and SMART delivery for all NHL and WHL games
  • Confirm camera calibrations and image quality in SkeleTrack systems are to a satisfactory level
  • Monitor data quality and flag issues
  • Lead operation data investigations
  • Ensure all End of Day Reporting is through and accurate

Out of Season
  • Hybrid work location available
  • Base shift is 9-5 office day shift
  • Maintenance or install trips to go on site may be required
  • Work on projects that range from data investigation, hardware refresh/improvements, prepare/test software rollouts, operational improvements, developing and leading trainings
  • Assist with other Sport deliveries as needed

Desirables
  • 1+ years of Production/Technical experience in a successful branded company/organization
  • Supervisory or Leadership experience, with the ability to provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS and cloud computing (training provided if necessary).
  • Proficient in project management software such as ClickUp
  • Proficient in using the Google Office suite, including Sheets, Looker and AppScript
  • Experience in hardware quality assurance
  • Previous experience in Live Delivery Operations or Sports Technology
  • General understanding of the game of hockey
