Job description

As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a dynamic Senior Procurement Specialist to be part of our Procurement team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.
This position works in a hybrid model, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite.
Objective: You will support and drive the successful procurement of strategic commodities and services, in alignment with the organization's operating and overall strategic plans. This position will own and lead strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned categories, delivering measurable value through cost optimization, risk mitigation, innovation, and supplier performance improvement. This role operates with high autonomy and is accountable for developing and executing sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related business field; MBA or other relevant certifications a plus
  • 5+ years experience in Purchasing; experience in steel manufacturing industry preferred
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing process utilizing an ERP System (SAP preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Procurement and negotiation strategies and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts in order to provide concise commercial recommendations to management
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet critical timelines with limited advance notice or oversight

Some of the key activities you will be responsible for:
  • Identify, develop and implement strategic and transformative initiatives for assigned commodities and services to optimize costs and create long-term value for the company; focusing on market opportunities, innovations and partnerships to increase efficiency, savings and innovation.
  • Ensure all interactions and activities are in compliance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal customers and suppliers to develop strategic plans to reduce cost, improve sustainability and provide product improvement.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate responses to RFI/RFP/RFQs to deliver strategic, data-driven sourcing recommendations to Procurement upper management and internal business partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and analyze the dynamics of market driven commodities to determine buying patterns and effectively communicate potential problems and opportunities; while also demonstrating agility during extreme economic situations involving supply constraints to ensure consistency of supply is maintained.
  • Awareness and understanding of geopolitical activities and impacts, global supply market trends, economics and best practice sourcing.
  • Utilize creative and successful negotiating strategies that will maximize the organization's opportunity for total cost of ownership from its suppliers and minimize potential operational interruptions due to lack of supplies/services or other supplier issues.
  • Maintaining consistent follow-up and active communications with Senior Procurement Manager - Strategic Sourcing.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and regularly monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with agreements and prompt resolution to issues.
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, showcasing procurement strategies, market analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Other miscellaneous responsibilities, include but are not limited to: Writing/editing Standard Operating Procedures, contract life cycle management, improvement of processes/internal controls, etc.

Salary Range: US $101,900 to $140,100
