Job description

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. We are a career destination with over 6,000 colleagues who reflect the diversity of our community.

Job Summary: 

Leads and mentors lower-level analysts. Coordinates and participates in planning, coordination, development, implementation, and maintenance activities related to integrating applications and technologies within the organization’s application integration environment. Collaborates with clinicians and operational system end users to design, build, test, train, implement, evaluate, and maintain Epic electronic medical records (EMR), patient accounting interfaces, and other associated clinical and financial systems. Analyzes and understand business problems; recommends solutions meeting organizational clinical and business systems maintenance goals. Designs, leads, and implements highly complex integration solutions using a variety of technologies in a supportable and scalable manner. Builds, tests, and implements data exchange interfaces. Provides a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patients’ experiences continually. Ensures project and standard change tasks for the Integration/Technical Team are being completed in accordance with required timelines. Works with the team to distribute work. Holds weekly application meetings and provides status reports to managers and helps provide team unity and direction. Works along with team members and performs IT/Sr Integration Analyst and IT/App Integration Analyst duties (as needed). Provides a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patients’ experiences.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, IT management, software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems (IS), applied engineering, health information management (HIM), health informatics, nursing informatics, nursing, health science, education, business administration, health care, or a related field.
  • Human Resources (HR) may accept directly related work experience on a 1-year:1-year basis for required education [NOTE: Experience credited in lieu of formal education will not be credited toward the minimum experience requirement below (i.e., the same experience will not be counted twice).]

Required Experience:

  • Six (6) years of directly related professional experience

Other Qualifications: Communication skills (critical).Problem solving skills (critical).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight or more (8+) years of job-related experience.  
  • Hands-on experience with application programming interface (API) driven design using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Representational State Transfer (REST).  
  • Experience on several projects in all stages of the development life cycle.  
  • Experience applying best design practices in accordance with the patterns and principles in their modeling. 
  • Software development experience.  
  • Project implementation and conversion experience.  
  • Process flow collection and documentation experience. 
  • Experience working with software as a service (SaaS) applications.  
  • Expert level Epic Bridges integration configuration knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of relational logical and physical data modeling.  
  • Expert knowledge of data exchange interfaces (e.g., building, testing, and implementing).  
  • Expert level knowledge of hospital workflows.  
  • Understanding of relational database management system (RDBMS) concepts.  
  • Knowledge of Epic’s data model.  
  • Knowledge of integration best practices.  
  • Familiarity with multiple Epic application workflows and how they interconnect.  
  • Familiarity with best design practices, patterns, and principles in their modeling.  
  • Familiarity with software development.  
  • Expert with Structured Query Language (SQL)-like language.  
  • Proficient in programming languages, integration standards, and data structures.  
  • Proficient in at least one of the following: Python, C#, Visual Basic, or other object-oriented programming language.  
  • Proficient in web services and API technologies.  
  • Proficient with Health Level Seven (HL7) message structure.  
  • Proficient with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills.  
  • Good presentation skills.  
  • Ability to analyze/understand business problems and recommend solutions.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Related Epic certification(s) required. Multiple certifications may be required depending on functional area and job responsibilities. Required certification(s) must be obtained within ninety (90) days from last class completion. If a required certification is not obtained after three (3) examination attempts, the incumbent has a period of thirty (30) days after the last examination attempt to apply for other job opportunities within the organization. If unable to acquire another position within the organization, the incumbent’s employment with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. (TMH) ends.
