The Metal Grinder is responsible for grinding, smoothing, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and fabricated products to meet quality and production standards. This role ensures surfaces are free of defects, sharp edges, slag, weld spatter, and burrs prior to coating, assembly, or shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate hand grinders, angle grinders, bench grinders, and other power tools safely and efficiently
  • Grind, sand, and smooth welded joints and fabricated metal surfaces
  • Remove slag, weld spatter, rust, and excess materials from metal components
  • Inspect finished surfaces to ensure quality, uniformity, and compliance with specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints or work orders as required
  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions to supervisor
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist with other shop duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in metal grinding, fabrication, or manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Basic knowledge of metal types and surface finishing techniques
  • Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
