Job description

Title: Grinding Operator

Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Salary: $20.00 – $28.00/hr (Hourly range dependent on experience)

Grinding Operator Role:

The Grinding Operator is responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding machines to ensure the outside diameters of metal parts meet precise specifications. This role exists to maintain high-quality production standards and ensure the structural integrity of manufactured metal workpieces.

Grinding Operator Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate centerless grinders to grind metal workpieces
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to resolve production issues
  • Select and mount grinding wheels based on specifications and knowledge of abrasives
  • Compute dimensions, widths, and angles to adjust tools for specified cuts
  • Perform basic maintenance including cleaning and lubricating machine parts
  • Remove and replace worn or broken machine components using hand tools
  • Inspect finished pieces and isolate defective items
  • Organize finished metal parts in boxes or on racks for the next stage of production

Grinding Operator Reporting Relationships:

This position reports directly to our client's Department Supervisor/Manager. This role does not have any direct reports.

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of math, measurements, and the use of micrometers or scales
  • Exhibit excellent mechanical skills and the ability to work with precision
  • Coordinate hand and arm movements quickly to manipulate or assemble objects
  • Recognize when equipment is malfunctioning or likely to fail
  • Maintain strong diligence and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills

Additional Information:
