The Role

Under the direction of the Plant Manager , the Roll Grinder Operator is responsible for performing receiving inspection, resurfacing, and final inspection of leveler rolls.

Requirements

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items

  • Setup, grind, and polish leveler rolls blemish free to customer specifications.
  • Inspect rolls before and after processing.
  • Change grinding wheels.
  • Check and adjust coolant.
  • Operate various types of inspection equipment.
  • Measure rolls for receiving inspection parameters, including a before Pro-mic report.
  • Document all production and inspection activities on required forms.
  • Maintain housekeeping of area and equipment.
  • Perform ultrasound, surface finish, hardness, runout, and all other testing required and record results.
  • Complete grinding report form.
  • Prepare rolls for shipment per procedure.

Knowledge

  • Hazardous Communication training, Forklift training, and Crane Safety training preferred.
