Wasatch Surface Solutions is a commercial pavement contractor based in Orem, Utah, specializing in diamond grinding, pavement profiling, rumble strips, and street sweeping for departments of transportation, municipalities, and general contractors across the Intermountain West. We're a growing, family-run operation that takes pride in quality work and treating our crew right.

We're hiring an experienced Diamond Grinder Operator to run our self-propelled diamond grinding equipment on highway, roadway, bridge, and airfield projects. This is hands-on field work for someone who already knows their way around a grinder, takes pride in a smooth finished surface, and is willing to travel for multi-day jobs across our service area (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nevada).

What You'll Do

  • Operate and maneuver self-propelled diamond grinding machines to correct and texture pavement surfaces to spec
  • Set grinding depth and monitor cut quality to meet smoothness and texture requirements
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, cleaning, blade changes, and routine maintenance
  • Manage water and slurry systems during grinding operations
  • Work safely within active work zones alongside traffic control crews
  • Load, unload, and transport equipment to and from job sites
  • Travel to and stay overnight at out-of-town project sites as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Prior hands-on experience operating a diamond grinding machine (required)
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and willing to put in a full day
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating heavy equipment
  • Able to travel and stay overnight for multi-day jobs
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Able to perform physical labor: standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in varying weather
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Preferred (Not Required)

  • CDL (Class A or B)
  • Experience in DOT or highway construction environments
  • OSHA 10/30 certification

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay starting at $35+/hour, based on experience
  • Per diem and lodging covered on travel jobs
  • Overtime opportunities during peak season
  • Steady work with a growing company

Wasatch Surface Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
