Job description

Food Safety & HACCP Manager
We are seeking a Food Safety & HACCP Manager to lead and maintain our food safety system while ensuring regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and day-to-day execution of key food safety programs.
This role is responsible for both the management and execution of critical food safety functions. The position owns the overall food safety system while ensuring that documentation, verification activities, inspections, training support, and compliance requirements are consistently completed.
This position currently combines responsibilities that will eventually be separated into multiple roles as the company continues to grow. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to help shape the future structure of the food safety department.
A transition plan is already in place, and the current Food Safety & HACCP Manager will remain available for support, training, and consultation during the onboarding period.
Responsibilities
Food Safety & HACCP Leadership
  • Maintain and improve HACCP plans, prerequisite programs, and food safety systems
  • Ensure all food safety programs are effective, practical, and consistently followed
  • Evaluate food safety risks and make appropriate product disposition and compliance decisions
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the food safety system

Regulatory Compliance & Audit Readiness
  • Serve as primary USDA regulatory contact
  • Lead USDA meetings and regulatory communications
  • Coordinate and lead third-party, customer, and regulatory audits
  • Ensure corrective actions are identified, assigned, completed, and verified
  • Maintain audit readiness at all times

Food Safety Records & Documentation
  • Ensure HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and other regulatory records are complete, accurate, and organized
  • Maintain document control systems and record retention requirements
  • Ensure records are readily available for audits and inspections

GMP, Sanitation & Verification Activities
  • Conduct or oversee daily GMP monitoring activities
  • Conduct or oversee pre-operational inspections and sanitation verification
  • Track trends, identify recurring issues, and drive corrective actions
  • Communicate sanitation deficiencies and verify resolution

Food Safety Culture & Training
  • Reinforce food safety expectations throughout the facility
  • Support employee food safety training initiatives
  • Maintain visibility on the production floor
  • Promote accountability and ownership of food safety responsibilities

Inventory & Purchasing
  • Manage food safety, sanitation, and operational supply inventories
  • Coordinate purchasing activities related to food safety programs
  • Ensure required materials are available to support operations

Qualifications
  • HACCP Certification
  • Experience working in a USDA-inspected meat or food manufacturing facility
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, food defense, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience preparing for and leading audits
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, management, auditors, and regulators
