Job description

Guest Relations Associate

 Schedule: Saturday and Sunday + One week day

Position Summary: 

Leads the customer experience in the Kootenai Café by demonstrating exceptional kindness to guests and co-workers. Displays a positive attitude and willingness to serve others.

Team Highlight:

The Hospitality department at Kootenai Health offers a wide range of support services to various departments, staff members and patients. Our 120-member team is made up of a variety of contributors including an executive chef, sous chefs, cooks, baristas, clinical dietitians, nutrition technicians, guest relation associates, and hospitality services associates. We prepare and serve patient meals through our room service program in the hospital, as well as for our off-site youth acute unit.  We operate a cafe and coffee service for employees and hospital guests, along with a robust overnight food grab and go service. We provide catering services within the hospital and stock all the units with food and paper items. Our department offers a high level of patient nutrition support and education provided by our registered dietitians and, in addition, our infant nutrition technicians carefully prepare feedings for premature babies in the NICU. As a member of this fast-paced and dynamic team, you are involved in offering the highest level of care regardless of the important role you play!

Responsibilities:

  • Supports customer throughput by creating fast and efficient retail transactions.
  • Welcomes guests and provides information on Kootenai Café menu items and to-go offerings
  • Maintains cleanliness and product quality by keeping food products stocked and customer areas including the lobby and food serving areas clean and safe at all times
  • Operates point of sale system and cash handling for retail transactions with guests
  • Supports other members of Hospitality Services team as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of customer service experience preferred
  • Minimum of one-year experience with point of sale system operation in a retail environment preferred
  • Current Idaho Food Handlers Card or must obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to maintain complete confidentiality and sophistication in social and professional settings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creative problem solving ability

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in a food preparation job
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
