What is a groundman?

Groundmen, also known as ground workers or groundpersons, are entry-level workers in the electrical utility or construction industries. They assist linemen and other crew members by handling tools, materials, and equipment on the ground. Their responsibilities include maintaining a safe work area, preparing and organizing equipment, and supporting the team with various manual tasks. Groundmen play a crucial role in ensuring that work on power lines, poles, or construction sites runs smoothly and efficiently.
