The Pavement Preservation Field Worker supports pavement preservation operations by performing a variety of field-based tasks to safely and efficiently deliver high-quality roadway treatments. Field Workers are expected to contribute across functions, support team success, and uphold safety, quality, and productivity standards at all times.This position is designed to be flexible and may include work as a flagger, laborer, equipment operator, or truck driver depending on operational needs, training, and qualifications. Specific openings for this position vary throughout the construction season.
Essential Functions
Duties may vary by project, crew assignment, and individual qualifications, and may include, but are not limited to:
  • Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and other teams to meet project goals
  • Perform general labor tasks related to pavement preservation operations, including material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and support activities
  • Assist with or perform traffic control and flagging activities in accordance with safety regulations and project requirements
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in pavement preservation work
  • Operate trucks or construction equipment when properly trained, licensed, and authorized
  • Load, unload, transport, and apply materials used in pavement preservation treatments
  • Conduct basic equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and work practices, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Adapt to changing work assignments, weather conditions, job sites, and schedules
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Experience Qualifications
  • Preferred Prior experience in heavy highway construction

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic
  • Continuous exposure to equipment cabs, including computer controls, dials, handles, knobs, switches
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, dirt
  • Regular exposure to noise, including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, jackhammers
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes and airborne particles
  • Climbs in and out of equipment
  • Sits in heavy equipment for 8-12 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as required for the job
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
  • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
  • Uses sight and sound to visualize work area, operate control panels, etc.
  • Overtime, weekend and shift work are frequently required
