How can I become a groundman?

Career: Groundman

The qualifications needed to start a career as a groundman include a high school diploma or GED certificate for most entry-level jobs. There should be extensive on-the-job training, but you can take on an apprenticeship to hone your skills. These programs can take three years to complete, but the job experience is well worth it. While your job does not involve direct contact with electrical systems, most employers want you to have a basic understanding of the principles. If a three-year apprenticeship is too much, there are one-year certificate programs that involve fieldwork. As you advance in your skills and training, you gain more responsibilities, eventually advancing to a journeyman level.
