Precise Systems is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Systems Engineer / Technical Writer to support engineering, integration, test, evaluation, technical documentation, and life-cycle support for Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and customer-ready documentation. This position requires someone who can work directly with engineers, technicians, logisticians, test personnel, configuration management teams, and Government stakeholders to document system requirements, technical designs, test results, procedures, engineering recommendations, and technical data products. This role is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable supporting technical work while also producing high-quality written products such as technical reports, test procedures, interface documentation, standard operating procedures, technical manuals, data packages, briefings, and engineering documentation.
This role requires in-person support.
Duties:
  • Provide engineering and technical support for EW systems, subsystems, equipment, components, software, and related technologies.
  • Support requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements traceability, system design, system testing, and engineering analysis activities.
  • Develop, review, edit, and maintain technical documentation supporting system development, integration, testing, sustainment, and configuration control.
  • Translate complex engineering information into clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for Government and technical audiences.
  • Prepare and update technical reports, engineering judgment inputs, test reports, test procedures, technical manuals, SOPs, data packages, briefings, and other customer deliverables.
  • Support development and maintenance of system design documentation and associated technical data.
  • Assist with technical data packages, including drawings, specifications, technical repair standards, installation/operation/check-out procedures, engineering change documentation, and related artifacts.
  • Review technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, consistency, formatting, grammar, and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Work with engineers and subject matter experts to capture technical details, document engineering decisions, and develop rationale for recommendations.
  • Support systems integration documentation, including interface requirements, interface control documentation, data flows, system communication boundaries, and compatibility considerations.
  • Document troubleshooting results, deficiency reports, test findings, corrective actions, lessons learned, and engineering recommendations.
  • Support test planning, test execution, data review, and post-test documentation for lab, field, and system-level test activities.
  • Assist with preparation of briefings and technical presentations for program reviews, design reviews, test reviews, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain organized documentation libraries, version-controlled files, and technical records.
  • Support configuration management activities by documenting changes, reviewing engineering change proposals, and ensuring technical documentation reflects current system baselines.
  • Review technical manuals, procedures, training materials, and engineering documentation for usability and technical correctness.
  • Coordinate with engineering, test, logistics, quality, cybersecurity, software, and program management personnel to ensure documentation accurately reflects technical work performed.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly marked, handled, stored, and distributed in accordance with applicable security, CUI, OPSEC, and configuration control requirements.

Desired Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related technical field.

Desired Experience:
  • 7+ years related professional experience
  • Relevant engineering and technical writing experience may be considered in lieu of degree depending on customer requirements.
  • Experience supporting engineering, systems engineering, test and evaluation, integration, sustainment, or technical documentation efforts.
  • Strong technical writing ability with demonstrated experience preparing engineering documentation, reports, procedures, manuals, or technical data products.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them clearly to engineering, programmatic, and Government audiences.
  • Experience working with technical source data such as drawings, specifications, requirements, test data, engineering notes, procedures, and SME input.
  • Ability to review technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and readability.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation tasks, deadlines, and technical inputs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, technical leads, program managers, and Government stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Secret clearance; Top Secret/SCI eligibility preferred.
  • Experience supporting Navy, NAVSEA, NSWC Crane, Marine Corps, or other DoD engineering programs.
  • Experience supporting EW systems, RF systems, tactical systems, electronic systems, software systems, or test equipment.
  • Experience developing or reviewing technical manuals, SOPs, test procedures, test reports, technical data packages, interface control documents, or engineering change documentation.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, configuration management, requirements traceability, test planning, verification, validation, and life-cycle support.
  • Experience supporting technical documentation standards, data item descriptions, CDRLs, or Government deliverable development.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira, Microsoft Project, Confluence, or other documentation and collaboration tools.
  • Experience supporting technical reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, configuration control boards, or program reviews.
  • Ability to collect technical input from multiple stakeholders and consolidate it into polished, customer-ready deliverables.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
