Grant Proposal Writer Jobs in Indiana (NOW HIRING)

The Grants Writer III is responsible for assisting the Grants Department in all functions of grants-related fundraising. Specific duties include prospecting new funding sources, writing and editing, budget preparation, and ensuring timely and accurate development and submission of proposals.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor's degree in a related field; master's degree preferred; and at least five years of experience in grant writing. Candidate must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills with ability to work professionally and efficiently in a time-sensitive environment. Must be able to read and interpret complex guidelines, data, and legal documents.

Grant Research Development and Writing - 50%
o    Read and comprehend funding opportunities to determine feasibility, eligibility, and appropriateness.
o    Prospect new funding sources helping to identify opportunities for federal, state, and private support and distribute them to relevant staff.
o    Write and edit grant proposals for HHC, MCPHD, Eskenazi Health (including Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center and Eskenazi Health Center), and IEMS.
o    Develop budgets, including formulation of salaries, costs, and percentages.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - 30%
o    Serve on planning committees for all new and renewal grant proposals.
o    Serve as a liaison between the Grants Department and Funder for coordination and communication.
o    Provide guidance and support to program staff regarding proposal requirements, compliance matters, and submission protocols.
o    Provide technical assistance to Program Managers.
Proposal Management - 20%
o    Develop proposal checklists and internal deadline schedules to track proposal progress.
o    Ensure accurate and timely development and submission of grant proposals.
o    Maintain complete and accurate files of grant proposal activity.
o    Assist department personnel with periodic reporting, newsletter development, and tracking.
o    Maintain, monitor, and distribute grant-related information to appropriate personnel.
o    Facilitate executive approval for all grant proposals and awards to HHC.

Required 
o    Bachelor's degree in public health, journalism, business, or related field
o    At least five years of writing experience
o    Program development and project management experience
o    Experience interpreting funding opportunity guidelines and preparing proposals for submission to major funding agencies
o    Ability to develop budgets, including formulation of salaries, costs, and percentages.
o    Ability to organize a proposal effectively and efficiently with attention to detail.
o    Proficiency with federal proposal submission portals, including Grants.gov, HRSA Electronic Handbooks, etc.
o    Excellent attention to detail, outstanding customer service, and strong communication skills
o    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents (proposal requests/legal documents)
o    Ability to handle several tasks under time pressures and competing deadlines
o    Proficiency with federal proposal submission portals, including Grants.gov, HRSA Electronic Handbooks, etc.
Preferred
o    Master's degree
o    Familiarity with public health methodologies
o    Federal grants management experience, including but not limited to, interpreting and applying provisions of Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements, 2 CFR Part 200 et.al.
o    Proficiency with federal proposal submission portals, including Grants.gov, HRSA Electronic Handbooks, etc.
