Description


Location: Hybrid. Office located in San Diego, CA and option to work remotely 1-2 days per week.


CPC provides ocean services and technology for government, industry, research institutions, and non profit organizations. We are seeking a motivated and qualified finance or accounting professional with experience in the government contracting sector.  You will be responsible for overseeing financial aspects of government contracts and ensuring project profitability and compliance. Your role will involve utilizing your expertise in finance and accounting, along with project management skills, to support various projects and initiatives. 

Responsibilities:


Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring project costs and revenue. Provide financial analysis and reporting for government contracts, including variance analysis and profitability assessments. Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards in project financial management. Perform cost accounting activities, such as cost allocation, overhead calculations, and indirect rate development. Daily use of ERP to run financial reports, validate accuracy of reporting and data, research accounting errors or anomalies, and build/monitor dashboards. Implement ERP improvement initiatives and automation. Researches and resolves issues encountered by system users. Project billing and revenue recognition. Monthly update to rolling cash flow forecasts. Monthly reconciliations of complex balance sheet accounts Participate in project reviews and audits conducted by government agencies or external auditors.

Requirements


This position requires a comprehensive understanding of government contracting regulations, cost accounting principles, and proficiency in utilizing ERP systems commonly used in government contracting environments.


Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, PMP) preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting finance or accounting roles.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret project financial data and make strategic recommendations.

Proficiency in project management principles and practices, including project planning, scheduling, and risk management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, queries/macros, pivot tables, etc.)

Experience working with DCAA and DCMA In-depth knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and experience with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance in project financial management.

Hands-on experience with government contracting ERPs such as JAMIS, Unanet, or Deltek.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priority deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


The wage range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience.
